ADM sees growing role in domestic pet economy

MANILA, Philippines — Pet food manufacturer ADM is seizing the vast potential of the local pet industry as it unveils its latest product innovations in the market.

At the recent 28th Philippine Animal Hospital Association (PAHA) conference at Marriott Hotel, ADM brandished its pet nutrition business and highlighted the latest developments in veterinary medicine to more than 1,000 veterinarians and animal experts in the convention.

Clare Torralba, director of pet nutrition at ADM, said the company is committed to helping the emerging pet economy in the Philippines.

“With one of the most sizable rates of dog and cat ownership throughout Asia, the country provides a growing opportunity for pet food and other related products and services. Over the past five years, pets have become increasingly common as household companions – especially during the pandemic – leading to significant sales increases in pet food,” she said.

“ADM understands the emerging pet economy and we are here to support the industry, mainly through our product innovations and high-quality pet food.”

ADM is the company behind Ganador Premium Dog Food, Minino Yum Cat Food and the Equilbrio range of products. These premium pet foods are formulated to meet the needs of cats and dogs according to their life stage, size and conditions. Ganador Premium Dog Food and Minino Yum Cat Food have experienced a triple-digit market growth in the Philippines over the last year.

The global pet industry is poised to increase from $320 billion to almost $500 billion by 2030, according to a recent report by Bloomberg. The report said the growth can be attributed to an expanding pet population worldwide, and the premiumization of food and services resulting from the continued humanization of companion animals.
