UC Webmasters eye record 7-0 start as CESAFI action resumes
CEBU, Philippines — After a five-day ceasefire, action in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Season 23 Men’s Basketball Tournament resumes today at the Cebu Coliseum with the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters seeking to extend their unbeaten streak.
The Webmasters currently enjoy the solo leadership in the college division with a perfect 6-0 record.
A victory over the 3-2 University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors in their 3:30 p.m. duel will further stretch UC’s best ever start in the league’s 23-year history to seven games in a row, something that the Webmasters haven’t done before.
In the other collegiate match-up, the Benedicto College Cheetahs and the Felipe R. Verallo Foundation College (FRVFC) Blue Eagles will go up against each other at 5 p.m.
The Cheetahs, sporting an even 3-3 slate, are eyeing to complete a clean three-game sweep of their fellow league newcomers. They already downed the Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges (CRMC) Mustangs and the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fighting Maroons and the 1-6 Blue Dragons are next on their crosshairs.
In the high school category, the 2-4 City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy (CBSAA) Trailblazers shoot for their third consecutive win as they battle against the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers at 2 p.m., while the 1-6 USC Baby Warriors and the 1-5 Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Baby Wildcats collide in the 12:30 p.m. opener. — EBV.
