Petron emerges as preferred oil firm by Filipino consumers
MANILA, Philippines — Oil giant Petron Corp. has solidified its position as the leading oil company in the country after topping a survey conducted by Hong Kong-based consumer intelligence company Standard Insights.
Petron emerged as the overall fuel brand of choice among Filipino consumers for the 2023 survey for the Consumer Choice Awards.
Standard Insights’ Consumer Choice Awards aims to recognize the best products and services based on consumer data.
Petron bagged the title of the best overall retail oil and gas brand in the Philippines, receiving 45.7 percent of the votes.
The company was also voted as the most affordable fuel brand, registering 30.3 percent in the price and affordability category.
With its extensive network of service stations, which is the widest in the country, Petron earned a dominant 53.6 percent of votes for accessibility, while its commitment to sustainability was scored the highest by 34.1 percent of survey respondents.
Petron also bested other players in terms of branding and marketing with a 47.9 percent rating.

Petron is the largest oil company in the Philippines, operating the country’s only remaining refinery.
It can supply around 40 percent of the country’s total fuel requirements through the operation of its 180,000 barrel-per-day oil refinery in Bataan.
Based on the Department of Energy’s latest industry report, Petron remained as the petroleum market leader, cornering 23.19 percent of the domestic market in the first half of the year.
