Training program for companies’ compliance to Safe Spaces Act

MANILA, Philippines — The Center for Global Best Practices will host an online training titled “GAD Training Compliance: The Law and IRR of the Safe Spaces Act” from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 10 via Zoom.

Section 19 (Duties of Employers) of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 11313, otherwise known as the Safe Spaces Act that took effect on March 15, 2020, mandates all members and officers of the organization to attend a training on Safe Spaces Act. Update your workplace policies with this gender and development (GAD) mandatory training.

This training will discuss all aspects of RA 11313 and its implementing rules and regulations including actions punishable under this law, liabilities of individuals and institutions, development of a code of conduct, investigation mechanisms, preventive measures, remedies, and valuable advice to keep you and your people protected as envisioned in this law.

For those in the public sector, you are mandated to align your HR policies and code of conduct and to implement RA 11313 in all government institutions. This is applicable to national government agencies, government instrumentalities, GOCCs, SUCs LUCs, government financial institutions and LGUs. If you are a private entity, it is also a must to have a training for all your people and create policies against gender-based sexual harassment (GBSH). Owners, developers, administrators, property managers who owns properties with public access are also required to have a proper training and create clear policies on GBSH.

For security agencies and guards, you are required to undergo training on Safe Spaces Act in handling GBSH cases for you to renew your business permits and licenses. This is based on Rule 3 Section 6 of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of this law.

All educational and training institutions are also required to implement this law. There are penalties for non-compliance.

This training will feature Atty. Dot Gancayco, a multi-awarded lawyer, radio-TV host and women’s and children’s rights advocate. She hosts the multi-awarded public service show “Serbisyong Kasambahay” and is a legal consultant to different radio and TV shows. She is a writer at The Philippine STAR, professor of law, president of Celebrity Sports Club, and co-founder and past president of the Association of the Congressional Chiefs of Staff.

Registration is open to the general public and is highly recommended for HR and legal officers, compliance officers, department and agency heads, local chief executives, LGU administrators, GAD focal point persons, GAD TWGs, GAD training officers, educators and trainers, business owners, security agencies, guards and anyone who would like to protect themselves against sexual harassment.
