MANILA, Philippines — Automotive firm Chery Auto Philippines is looking to complement its product line up in the country as it plans to introduce three new energy vehicles.

During the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), Chery Auto previewed two full electric vehicles (EVs) models, particularly the eQ1 and eQ7 models as well as the Tiggo 7 Pro plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV).

“Chery’s global advocacy to promote green mobility through technological innovation in the Philippines will be realized as we officially introduce these new energy vehicles in the very near future,” Chery Auto Ph managing director Froilan Dytianquin said.

“We are indeed excited as Chery’s vehicle lineup becomes vast with various options for Filipino buyers at the same time making them ready for full electric mobility,” he said.

Dytianquin said the company’s current model line up will be further complemented with complete new energy derivatives such ashHybrids, PHEVs and new full electric vehicle models.

“Chery Auto Philippines wants to be at the forefront of change promoting a new era of green mobility. This path we are heading to aligns with Chery’s global advocacy to promote green mobility through technological innovation,” Dytianquin said.

Of the two full EVs the company previewed include the eQ1 micro full EV car, which can run up to 280 kilometers when fully charged.

“The car can sit 4 normal adults comfortably and comes fully equipped with power seats for both driver and front passenger, wireless charger for mobile phones, 10-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment, 4-wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD, and Auto Hold function among others,” the company said.

In contrast, the eQ7 is a full electric compact SUV with a driving range of more than 500 kilometers.

The said model has intelligent features such as its L2+ semi-autonomous driving system which includes a complete and multi-scenario Advanced Driver Assistance system and a diver monitoring system.

Meanwhile, the Tiggo 7 Pro PHEV boasts a powerful dual motor that is capable of propelling the car in full EV mode.

The model also has a 1.5-liter turbo engine which supports the hybrid function and at the same time supports battery charging.

“The Tiggo 7 PHEV features also a complete Advanced Driver Assistance System or ADAS, dual 12.3” Screens with Apple Carplay & Android Auto, power front seats with 4-way lumbar support and memory function for the driver seat, and heated and ventilated front seats,” Chery said.

The PHEV has three running modes, full EV mode, Hybrid Mode which combines electric and internal combustion, and pure internal combustion engine mode.

“When the vehicle purely uses the internal combustion engine, it also serves as a generator to charge the battery in addition to regenerative braking or making full use of the kinetic energy generated when the vehicle is decelerating. The vehicle can also be charged fully by simply plugging it into a wall charger,” the company said.

Dytianquin said the company is more committed to provide the Philippine market with competitively priced EVs with the passage of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA).

The EVIDA provides a national policy framework to develop the country’s EV industry.

The law seeks to promote innovation in clean energy and sustainable transportation, while pushing for the development of a sunrise industry in the country and generating jobs.
