MANILA, Philippines — The Center for Global Best Practices will host a special program titled, “Best Practices in Business and Government Protocol” on Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City.
Seemingly minor aspects of an engagement – a botched greeting or even a poorly chosen menu – can go missing or awry, and can alter the emotions and tenor of an exchange, setting up obstacles rather than paving the way forward. In some cases, an oversight may put the entire negotiation, deal or project in jeopardy. This is why learning protocol is important for government, corporate and social affairs.
There is so much more to learn in this one-day program including protocol on seating arrangements on annual stockholders and board meetings and in everyday situations such as entering an elevator, car, airplane, etc. In this special training, you will learn all of these including the right protocol of introduction, social graces and etiquette. When you want to rub elbows with high-ranking officials, wine and dine with the kings and queens, the royalties and other VIPs, or simply wish to learn how to handle your subordinates, bosses or your in-laws, it comes handy that you know your protocol. It is also helpful that you have a trained protocol officer or a protocol manual in your organization to guide you in times when protocol calls for the occasion.
This special program will feature three-distinguished experts on the field:
• Ruy Moreno, the first honorary consul general of the Philippines in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. His previous positions include being managing partner of Arthur Andersen Vietnam; executive director of International Chamber of Commerce Philippines and director for operations-private sector of the National Competitiveness Council. He is currently president of the Philippine Quality Awards Foundation; chairman of the Philippine-Myanmar Business Council; chairman of the committee on Ease of Doing Business of the Management Association of the Philippines and the Center for Global Best Practices.
• Stephen Cutler, the former head of all FBI operations in the Philippines. During a career spanning more than 20 years, he was in charge of terrorism prevention program, successfully conducted and supervised high-level investigations into political corruption, international money laundering, corrupt business practices and fraudulent transactions that spanned several continents. In addition to a two-year assignment at Interpol’s US National Central Bureau, he oversaw FBI operations in Africa, France, and Eastern Europe for three years.
• William Daland III, a certified image consultant and was a member of the Association of Image Consultants International. He taught at John Robert Powers, the country’s premier personality development school from 1994 until 2009 with areas of expertise on wardrobe, social graces and business etiquette. He also delivered lectures on personal branding and other soft skill topics to many institutions such as BSP, DLSU, AIM, Anderson Consulting, Lexus Philippines, Ateneo Law School, and many others.
