MANILA, Philippines — Metro Retail Stores Group Inc., the listed retail company of the Gaisano Group, is expanding in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu.
In a disclosure yesterday, Metro Retail said it is opening a Metro Supermarket in Lapu-Lapu City, making it the third Metro store to open its doors to consumers in the highly urbanized city.
The new Metro Supermarket has a floor area of 1,067 square meters and will have vegetables, fruits and delicatessen, seafood, chicken and meat.
There will also be Asian, Western and local staples to be sold in the new store which would be located at LG Garden Walk Mactan on M.L. Quezon Highway.
The opening of the Metro Supermarket LG Garden Walk Mactan is the 61st store and is part of Metro Retail’s aggressive expansion plans to serve more customers.
“Lapu-Lapu is a wonderful community and we are happy to serve our customers with not only fresh and a wide range of grocery items, but also convenience and great value, Metro Supermarket brand, “ said Manuel Alberto, the president and COO of Metro Retail.
The other Metro stores in Lapu-Lapu – Super Metro Lapu-Lapu is located in Poblacion to serve a consumer base living in the city proper; while Metro Supermarket in Shangs Mactan is for residents and shoppers in the resort area.
Metro Retail has different retail formats namely, a supermarket format operated under the “Metro Supermarket” and “Metro Fresh N Easy” brand names.
It also has a department store format operated under the “Metro Department Store” brand name; and a hypermarket format operated under the “Super Metro” brand name.
The different stores under the different retail formats are strategically located in densely populated cities or municipalities across Luzon and Visayas.
Metro Retail has at least 10 stores in Metro Manila, 12 stores in other parts of Luzon, and 39 stores in the Visayas which brings the company’s total store count to 61.
