Seminar on best practices for board’s audit committees
MANILA, Philippines — With the Securities and Exchange Commission’s mandatory requirement for companies to practice good corporate governance, having a functioning audit committee headed by a member of the board takes utmost importance. This is one of the reasons why corporations are now focused on strengthening the effectiveness of their audit committees.
To address the clamor of board directors and management for a professional training on this important topic, the Center for Global Best Practices will host an SEC-accredited program, “Board Directors’ Guide for Audit Committees,” on June 14, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. via Zoom.
This program is designed for board chairpersons who must fully understand the functions and roles of audit committees to lead effectively, for audit committee members so they know their roles, for the board directors and members of management including CEOs, CFOs, auditors and accountants so they can all learn how to relate and build a working program and agenda with their audit committees.
This three-hour online training will provide attendees a practical guide and applications to help audit committees work more effectively. The special event will feature the top 10 best practices for audit committees, reading and spotting key issues in audit reports, special investigation and financial reporting function, risk assessment protocols and tools, and solutions to challenges and problems faced by the board and audit committees. It will also feature PriceWaterhouse Coopers findings and valuable research on the global best practices of world-class audit committees.
Learn from former PwC Philippines chairperson and senior partner Judith Lopez. She was chairperson of the International Monetary Fund’s External Audit Committee (EAC) and was member of IMF EAC from 2018 to 2021. Moreover, she served as chairperson of the Philippine Auditing and Assurance Standards Council, the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice in the Philippines and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines. She was also an independent director and chairperson of the audit committee of the Philippine Veterans Bank until June 2022.
