BusinessWorld Economic Forum 2023 to explore sustainable digital future

MANILA, Philippines — Digitalization and sustainability dominate current conversations about transforming the future. While industries see the need for revolutionizing their processes and services through digital technologies moving forward, it is also vital for them to consider sustainability in envisioning their future, that is creating a positive impact through their business and for communities.

But these two are not separate goals that businesses should accomplish, for digitalization and sustainability can go and be achieved hand-in-hand in building a more meaningful and resilient future.

This is the central idea to be explored during this year’s BusinessWorld Economic Forum, the award-winning premier business event from the Philippines’ leading business newspaper and multimedia content provider, happening on May 25 at the Grand Hyatt Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

With the theme “The Digital Future: Accelerating Business and Sustainability,” the day-long forum will convene policymakers, industry leaders, and corporate executives to discuss about embedding sustainable development and digital transformation together to create a future that is more efficient, productive, and sustainable.

The keynotes setting the tone for the forum’s discussions will discuss how digital can be the key to a future that fully embraces sustainability and achieves greater financial inclusion.

Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John   Uy  will  deliver his keynote address on “Enabling Digital Transformation for an Inclusive, Sustainable Future,” while  Riccardo Puliti, regional vice-president for Asia and the Pacific at International Finance Corp., will tackle the topic “Digital Technology as a Catalyst for Greater Financial Inclusion.”

The forum will also feature presentations on digital trends, blockchain and Web 3.0, and technologies for food.

Peter Maquera, chief executive officer (CEO) for Philippines of Microsoft Asia Pacific, will present on “Digital Trends 2023: The Next Frontier in Digital.”

The second presentation will explore “Data Transformation: Understanding the Blockchain & Web 3.0” with nChain co-founder and executive chairman Stefan Matthews.

Kristine Go, general manager for nutrition at Unilever Southeast Asia, will deliver the last presentation with the topic “Reinventing Food for Humanity,” which will discuss the role of technologies in improving nutrition.

Digitalization and sustainability in various sectors will be further elaborated in the five panel discussions of the forum.
