Fish unloading recovers in November

MANILA, Philippines — After suffering from severe weather conditions, monthly fish unloading volumes in the country’s eight regional fish port (RFP) complexes bounced back in November.

The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) said, the country’s RFPs unloaded 32,091.03 metric tons (MT) of fish in November, a 22.45 percent jump from last month’s 26,208 MT.

The Bulan Fish Port Complex (BFPC) maintained its positive unloading streak for the second consecutive month, registering a 150.4 percent rise in its monthly fish volume to 1,201.13 MT.

The Lucena Fish Port Complex (LFPC) also sustained an increase in monthly fish unloading, delivering 1,927.26 MT of fish or a 6.77 percent increase. This is the highest volume recorded by the port since February.

Meanwhile, the Sual Fish Port (SFP) recovered from last month’s decline with 206.08 MT of fish delivered, up 62.2 percent.

The PFDA said all RFPs in Mindanao also recorded a significant increase in their monthly unloading volume.

The Zamboanga Fish Port Complex (ZFPC) netted 806.54 MT in fish unloading volume, which went up by 21.28 percent from 665.04 MT.

The Davao Fish Port Complex (DFPC) received 371.61 MT, up 52.4 percent from 243.85 MT.

The General Santos Fish Port Complex (GSFPC) is back on track to providing more high-quality fish to its consumers.

Data showed that as of Nov. 21, the GenSan port saw a 56.18 percent jump in fish deliveries to 17,900.32 MT, equivalent to more than half of the aggregate volume of all ports in November.

On the other hand, while the the Navotas Fish Port Complex (NFPC) continues to distribute first-class fishery products to its clients and stakeholders, its unloading volume declined to 8,304.86 MT, down 13.88 percent from 9,643.42 MT in the previous month.

The Iloilo Fish Port Complex (IFPC) unloaded 1,373.23 MT of fish, 22.98 percent lower than the 1,783.23 MT recorded.
