MANILA, Philippines — Ports and casino tycoon Enrique Razon has been recognized as the sixth most influential person in the Asian gaming industry this year by Inside Asian Gaming’s (IAG) Asian Gaming Power 50 list for 2022.

Razon, chairman and CEO of casino resort operator Bloomberry Resorts Corp., moved to sixth place from 10th the previous year in the annual list of the top 50 players in the Asia Pacific region, as compiled by Inside Asian aming (IAG).

“Continuing to lead the way for the rapidly growing Philippine gaming industry, Razon’s latest jump is on the strength of his Entertainment City flagship Solaire, with a second integrated resort due to open in Quezon City in 2023 and a third planned for future development in Cavite,” IAG said.

Topping this year’s list is Galaxy Entertainment Group vice chairman Francis Lui, who has been named the most influential person in the Asian gaming industry for the fourth year in a row.

The Asian Gaming Power 50, revealed during a Black Tie Gala Dinner last Friday at the City of Dreams, is IAG’s annual list of the 50 most influential individuals in the industry across the Asia Pacific region, as ranked by a panel of esteemed judges boasting decades of industry experience.

IAG is Asia’s leading B2B digital and print media brand for the gaming, resort and entertainment industry. It has the highest website traffic, social media following, digital newsletter distribution and print magazine distribution of any such brand.

Moving into second spot in 2022 is Genting Group chairman and CEO Lim Kok Thay, whose company has benefited from the global COVID-19 recovery given its strong position in Malaysia via Resorts World Genting and Singapore via Resorts World Sentosa.

“Despite the collapse of his cruise ship entity Genting Hong Kong, Lim has benefited from his lack of a presence in Macau – albeit a presence he is currently trying to establish – to climb one spot higher than a year ago,” IAG said.

Rounding up the top 5 are Lawrence Ho of Melco Resorts and Entertainment (third); Pansy Ho of MGM China (fourth); and Rob Goldstein, Las Vegas Sands (fifth).

Kingson Sian of Andrew Tan-led Travellers International Hotel Group is in 27th place.
