Shell Energy partners with Lucio Tan Group

MANILA, Philippines — Shell Energy Philippines Inc. (SEPH) has forged partnerships with various firms within the Lucio Tan Group of Companies to help boost their sustainability initiatives.

Under the partnerships, SEPH will power the operations of companies such as PMFTC Inc., Asia Brewery Inc. (ABI) and Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) with renewable energy.

“Establishing strategic partnerships with the Lucio Tan Group of Companies is an opportunity for both our organizations to be on the frontline in building up the renewable power business on a national and global scale,” SEPH general manager and president Bernd Krukenberg said.

“Energy is really a big field, and at Shell, we are driven to serve our public by being at the forefront of the energy transition. We’re doing this around the world, and we’re extremely happy that we are also able to do so in the Philippines,” Krukenberg said.

SEPH will supply 15 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy to ABI’s manufacturing facilities in Luzon.

The renewable energy contract is seen as a way to reduce ABI’s carbon footprint.

PMFTC’s Batangas and Marikina plants have also switched to renewable power moving forward in line with its journey toward sustainability.

LTP, a joint venture of Hamburg-based Lufthansa Technik AG and Tan’s aviation support service provider MacroAsia Corp., has also decided to team up with SEPH to power up their existing facility in Villamor air base.

In addition to these agreements, SEPH said other firms within the Lucio Tan group of companies such as flag carrier Philippine Airlines, Philippine National Bank, and Eton Properties Philippines Inc. are also set to join its growing list of renewable energy partners.

SEPH is a retail electricity supplier under the Shell companies in the Philippines offering competitive and environment-friendly energy solutions to industrial and commercial customers in the country.
