Iris Gonzales - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Red Ribbon Bakeshop, part of the Jollibee Group, has expanded its footprint in the United States with a store opening in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This marks the brand’s fifth new store for the year, with the other major openings in Houston, Texas and Bolingbrook, Illinois.

The Philadelphia store opened last Oct. 15 and it attracted customers who lined up the night before opening.

“We are excited to finally open our doors in the wonderful city of Philadelphia and serve both our loyal fans and newcomers our special bakery brand,” said Agnes Briones, business unit head of Red Ribbon.

This new location is Red Ribbon’s 39th store in the US, and is part of the Jollibee Group’s growth plans in North America.

The new Red Ribbon store is located at 2201 Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, a prime location within the Great Northeast Plaza shopping center.

“As the city’s most culturally dynamic area known for its diverse food scene, Northeast Philly provides the perfect place for us to entice new customers who want to treat themselves to something deliciously different, like our mouthwatering Mango Supreme Cake and our melt-in-your-mouth Butter Mamon pastries,” Briones said.

Red Ribbon specializes in offering delicious baked goods inspired by authentic Filipino flavors and ingredients.

While the bakeshop is best known for its cakes, it also serves different kinds of pastries.

At present, Red Ribbon has 526 outlets all over the Philippines and 39 stores in the US.

The Jollibee Group has been expanding aggressively in the US, even during the pandemic, as it aims to become one of the top five companies in the world.

It is present not just in the US and in the Philippines but across the globe or a total of 34 countries.

It has over 6,200 stores globally with branches in the Philippines, United States, Canada, the People’s Republic of China, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Egypt, Panama, Malaysia, South Korea, India, and Australia.

Aside from Red Ribbon, its other brands are Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Mang Inasal, Yonghe King, Hong Zhuang Yuan, and Smashburger.  It also has six franchised brands (Burger King, Panda Express, PHO24, and Yoshinoya in the Philippines; Dunkin’ and Tim Ho Wan in certain territories in China), 80 percent ownership of The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf; 60 percent ownership in the SuperFoods Group that owns Highlands Coffee and PHO24; and 51 percent ownership of Milksha, a popular Taiwanese bubble tea brand.
