Cemex targets net-zero carbon emission by 2050
MANILA, Philippines — Cemex Philippines seeks to be a net-zero CO2 company by 2050.
This goal is embodied in its “Future in Action” campaign, a global strategy which focuses on reducing CO2 emissions by 35 percent by 2025 and around 40 percent by 2030.
As part of the campaign, Cemex has expanded its portfolio with the introduction of Vertua, a new low carbon and eco-friendly product line.
Vertua-branded products such as the Apo and Rizal Portland High Strength Blended Cement Type IP bear the Vertua Plus seal, signifying that these have corresponding classifications indicating the amount of CO2 reduced in their production, Cemex said.
These products are suitable for green and resilient megastructures given their strength, durability, and lower emissions, Cemex said.
CEMEX is a global construction materials company with a presence in the Philippines. It has consistently been trumpeting its carbon neutrality efforts through the introduction of new products and improvements in processes.
It likewise continues to find ways to increase the use of waste and residues as alternative raw materials and fuels in its operations with the use of new technologies.
