MANILA, Philippines — A wholly owned subsidiary of Sy-led BDO Unibank Inc. is making it easier for Filipinos to get insurance protection as travel around and outside the country resume with the reopening of borders from strict COVID quarantine and lockdown protocols.

Ma. Theresa Tan, general manager of BDO Insure, said securing a travel insurance has never been more relevant and necessary as tourism is expected to pick-up its pace and recover from the slump over the past few years brought about by the   pandemic.

“We assure Filipino travelers that BDO Insure, as their insurance broker, will be with them every step of the way, from purchasing the travel insurance to claiming its benefits, so they can just focus on their business trip or vacation,” Tan said.

Travel insurance provides tourists with protection against financial loss due to medical emergencies and other covered unexpected events, such as cancelled trips and lost baggage incurred during trips.

To make it easier and more convenient for more travelers to avail travel insurance plans with COVID-19 coverage, BDO Insure has launched an online channel via www.bdo.com.ph/bdoinsure/travel that can be accessed using any mobile device, laptop or desktop computer.

BDO Insurance Brokers Inc. is an insurance broker licensed and supervised by the Insurance Commission. It partners with the most financially sound and reputable insurance companies to offer its clients with the right coverage and competitive rates.

According to a recent survey commissioned by an airline company, more Filipinos are traveling again. Sixty percent of the respondents, who are based all over the country, plan to travel domestically this year, while 50 percent are ready to fly to international destinations.

As the world continues to face the pandemic, travelling around and outside the country is safer with additional insurance protection.
