BEST, Stellar3 tie up for WTE project in Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — Basic Environmental Systems Technologies Inc. (BEST), a leader in waste management,  and US-based waste-to-energy solutions supplier Stellar3 LLC are teaming up for a project aimed at making the Philippines a leading technology hub for waste-to-energy (WTE) in the Asia Pacific region.

The joint venture will develop WTE projects, including the establishment of WTE manufacturing hubs in the country and address the government’s energy programs.

BEST and Stellar3 will work closely to design, build and operate modular facilities to transform waste into renewable energy  or low carbon fuels, said BEST CEO Neil Mercado.

An initial facility in a Morong, Bataan landfill site would transform waste plastics into low carbon liquid fuels in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, he said.

The partnership will also make a variety of waste forms, including feedstock, to provide low carbon liquid fuels, heat for electricity and hydrogen for the future growth of a hydrogen fueled economy.

BEST and Stellar3 plan to position the Philippines as a world leader in waste management and make the country a primary location in fund raising platforms such as the GlobalTrade Xchange in the Freeport Area of Bataan.

Stellar3 is one of the few firms worldwide that can economically transform municipal solid waste into low carbon fuels such as diesel, aviation and hydrogen in large-scale continuous processing facilities.

On the other hand, BEST provides services and facilities for waste disposal systems, public cleansing and material recovery to promote sustainable solutions for proper solid waste disposal, repurposing and resource conservation.
