ACEN expands tieup with Power Factors

Danessa Rivera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — ACEN Corp. expands partnership with Power Factors, a US-based clean energy management solutions provider, to manage not only its renewable projects, but also its energy and storage technology project.

In a statement yesterday, Power Factors said it was tapped by ACEN to integrate its Greenbyte performance optimization solution in the Ayala firm’s four megawatt (MW) Bataan Renewable Energy Tech Hub, which will test energy and storage technologies ahead of large-scale deployment.

“We are happy to expand our partnership with Power Factors’ Greenbyte platform, given the high levels of performance, value, and customer service we’ve already experienced in our renewable energy plants,” ACEN executive director and Philippine plant operations head Gabino Ramon Mejia said.

“ACEN’s share of renewables capacity is already one of the highest in the region, standing at 87 percent today, and we look forward to achieving the highest levels of performance optimization as we transition into a purely renewables company and realize our net zero aspirations by 2050,” he said.

The company uses the Power Factors’ Greenbyte solution to manage its nearly 590 MW solar and wind capacity to improve capabilities and gain efficiencies across its operations.

The solution helps bolster the Ayala unit’s solar and wind performance by centralizing and analyzing data, detecting anomalies, and unlocking productivity.

The power plants monitored by the Greenbyte solution include the 18-MW MonteSol in Negros Oriental, 80-MW IslaSol in Negros Occidental and 45-MW SacaSol in Negros Occidental, 63-MW Palauig Solar in Zambales, 120-MW Alaminos Solar in Laguna, 54-MW Guimaras Wind in Guimaras, 81-MW North Luzon Renewables and 52-MW NorthWind in Ilocos Norte, and 75-MW Sidrap Wind in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.

“Our Greenbyte platform has a strong track record in the Asia-Pacific region, and we are prepared for rapid growth as nations such as the Philippines accelerate their energy transition. Our mission is to support the work of regional leaders like ACEN,” Power Factors chief customer officer Magnus Henriksson said.

Power Factors develops software that accelerates the global energy transition by empowering all renewable energy stakeholders to collaborate, automate critical workflows, and make the best decisions.

ACEN aspires to be the largest listed renewables platform in Southeast Asia, with a goal of reaching 5,000 MW of renewables capacity by 2025.

The company has 3,800 MW of attributable capacity in the Philippines and across the region, of which 3,300 MW are renewable, putting the company in a strong position to reach its capacity target earlier than 2025.

The company’s renewable share of capacity is at 87 percent, among the highest in the region.
