MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. has named a new chief information officer (CIO) for the company, and a chief executive officer (CEO) for its data center joint venture partnership with ST Telemedia Global Data Centers and parent Ayala Corp.
Globe, in a stock exchange filing, said its CIO Carlo Malana would take on a new challenge as CEO of KarmanEdge Inc., its joint venture partnership with ST Telemedia and AC.
The data center partnership announced last month marks Globe’s serious entry into the rapidly growing data center space.
KarmanEdge will house the carved-out data center business, which has the potential to expand by up to 100-MW capacity in the mid to long-term.
Malana has served as Globe’s CIO since 2020.
As CIO, he led the telco’s digital transformation and was responsible for all information technology development, operations, and infrastructure investments.
Globe said Raul Macatangay, the company’s current vice president of the financial control team, has been selected to replace Malana as the company’s CIO starting next month.
A Globe rehire five years ago, Macatangay has more than 25 years in leadership roles in information technology, technology risk consulting, system implementation, business transformation, customer intelligence and analytics, marketing, research, finance and enterprise risk management.
Macatangay will report to the chief transformation and operations officer and will work with management and the different teams in information systems, infrastructure technology services, and enterprise architecture to deliver their key mandates while enabling the business to achieve its commitments.
