MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. has topped a perception survey among mobile networks in the country conducted by an international market research firm.
Globe emerged on top of four categories in the Mobile Network Operators 2021 report on the Philippines released by the Method Research.
These include network coverage, internet speed, digital marketing campaigns, and price competitiveness.
The survey, which covered 1,593 respondents nationwide, sought to understand and gather general insights on the Filipino population’s perceptions and preferences on the mobile phone network operator sector in the country.
Results of the survey conducted in the fourth quarter of 2021 showed that 33.63 percent of respondents picked Globe in terms of best network coverage, followed closely by Smart at 32.93 percent, TNT at 11.59 percent, Dito Telecommunity at 10.89 percent, TM at 8.94 perent, and Sun Cellular at 1.95 percent.
Globe also emerged as the top choice of those surveyed when it comes to internet speed, with 31.55 percent, followed by Smart with 29.79 percent, Dito with 21.16 percent, TNT with 9.26 percent, TM with 6.55 percent, and Sun Cellular with 1.64 percent.
In terms of competitive pricing, 27.46 percent of respondents picked Globe, followed by Smart with 19.27 percent, Dito with 17.13 percent, TM with 17 percent, TNT with 14.67 percent, and Sun Cellular with 4.41 percent.
Globe was also ranked first in terms of digital marketing campaigns with 38.29 percent.
Smart came in at second with 33.12 percent, followed by Dito with 10.01 percent, TNT with 9.32 percent, and TM with 8.31 percent.
“The results of the new survey affirms that Globe prevails as a trusted brand among Filipinos. We are thankful to our customers for believing in us and staying with us,” Globe president and chief executive officer Ernset Cu said.
“We will continue our efforts to deliver a first world network and affordable products and services that meet the changing needs and demands of our customers,” he said.
The Method Research said competition among mobile operators in the Philippines is now fiercer than ever with the entry of Dito.
“Dito has a long way to go to close the gap with established rivals Globe Telecom and Smart Communications. However, it can be a disruptive competitor in the current market,” the Method Research said.
“Around 30 percent of the mobile phone users in the Philippines are still on the 2G/3G network. Compared to Globe and Smart, Dito is starting with a 4G/5G network, which can prove to be an advantage in attracting 2G/3G users when combined with attractive offers,” it said.
