Isuzu dominates truck segment anew

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) dominated the local truck sales for the 22nd straight year as it cornered 45.5 percent of the market last year.

IPC, which serves as the exclusive assembler, importer, and distributor of brand-new Isuzu commercial vehicles and light commercial vehicles in the country, sold a total of 4,427 truck units in 2021.

It accounted for more than half or 56 percent of the Category III light-duty truck segment with 2,745 units and 38 percent of the Category IV medium-duty trucks segment after selling 1,397 units last year.

Likewise, IPC also accounted for more than a fourth of the Category V heavy-duty trucks segment after disposing 285 units.

IPC president Hajime Koso attributed the performance to the Isuzu brand’s global reputation for having durable and reliable trucks, as well as the company’s after-sales support through its dealer network which feature top-notch servicing facilities, expert service technicians and field support personnel ready to provide assistance.

Koso said the company continues to cater to customer needs by providing timely transport and business solutions.

“As a leader, we continue to innovate as we launched our New N-Series Smoother AMT trucks late last year. Currently, this is the first light-duty truck in the market with an automated manual transmission, and we are confident that this new innovating truck will have the similar success as other models in our lineup,” Koso added.
