MANILA, Philippines — BDO Unibank Inc. continues to boost its digital channels, enabling clients to transact and easily manage their finances online.

The bank is further enhancing its technology and security infrastructure to deliver its products and services in a faster, simpler and more secure way for the clients.

The country’s largest lender said its digital payment app, BDO Pay, now features upgrades in its five key functions:  Send Money, Pay Bills, Scan to Pay, Split Bill and Request Money.

In Send Money, BDO Pay users can send any amount to other users free of charge just by using their phone contacts or by typing in the mobile number of the recipient. Other options are sending money to the recipient’s account number or email address.

For the Pay Bill function, the app allows users to pay their bills  such as credit cards, telecoms/internet, electric and water utilities, TV/cable, loans, investment, government and transportation, among others, free of charge without the need to enroll them.

The Scan to Pay feature enables BDO Pay users to pay various merchants just by scanning their QR code with the users’ mobile phone camera. Payments are reflected in real-time, while clients can divide group bills with up to five other people and request money in one tap via the Split Bill feature.

The flagship bank of the SM Group said BDO Pay users can also Request Money from other users of the digital wallet of up to P50,000 per person.

The person who was requested money from would receive a notification from BDO Pay. Once this person accepts the request and sends the money, the receiver will get a notification and a transaction receipt.

Clients can download the BDO Pay app from Google Play, App Store, or Huawei AppGallery. Using BDO Pay, clients can directly link their BDO account and credit card.

The bank added BDO Pay to its roster of digital banking channels to provide clients an alternative option to do bank transactions and payments without the need to visit a branch.

With the digital payment app, BDO clients need not move in and out of different apps just to transfer money from one account to another.

Moreover, having a digital payment app linked directly to client’s bank account allows the former to save from paying cash-in fees repeatedly.
