MANILA, Philippines — Integrated transportation and logistics provider 2GO Group Inc. has embarked on a P150 million modernization program to address future customer demand.

2GO said the investment involves the deployment of important technological initiatives on digitization and automation across the company’s core businesses aimed at improving competitiveness and achieving its long-term goals.

“Ultimately, these changes are geared to enhance our customers’ buying experience which has been the central focus of 2GO,” said Waldo Basilla, 2GO Group COO.

To cater to the growth of the courier and ecommerce business, 2GO Express, the courier solutions provider of the group, has invested in new technology that enhances efficiency, speeds up processing time, and allows scalability while improving reliability.

2GO said the utilization of automated sorting machines in its hub facilities are seen to facilitate the processing of more than 140,000 parcels a day.

Also deployed by the company are innovative transport management systems through modernized destination mapping and vehicle routing to optimize delivery.

The new technology will allow customers real time tracking of shipments to support their planning and consumption, 2GO said.

For 2GO Logistics, technology improvements were made to increase its operating output. A modern warehouse management system was also deployed.

2GO said this would streamline its workflows electronically, improve customer integration, order and inventory management, thereby improving its ability to accurately serve its customers’ fulfillment requirements.

With the implementation of GPS-enabled trucks, 2GO said it is now able to offer a transport control tower solution that further provides the ability to track deliveries real time to increase reliability. For its distribution business, the company is enhancing demand planning systems to aid in forecasting and in ensuring the availability of goods on the shelves of retail partners.

The 2GO Group, a subsidiary of conglomerate SM Investments Corp., offers multimodal transportation, warehousing and inventory management, distribution, special containers, and project logistics as well as e-commerce logistics, including last-mile deliveries, and express courier deliveries.
