MANILA, Philippines — PLDT-backed pay TV provider Cignal TV has introduced its latest venture which aims to provide internet access and connectivity using satellite technology.
Called Cignal Connect, the broadband service seeks to provide internet connectivity to areas with limited or no broadband connection.
The service is targeted for subscribers that are located in far-flung areas where fiber broadband and mobile data connections are limited or not available.
Cignal Connect covers the entire country, providing internet access even in the most remote areas.
“This makes Cignal Connect the perfect solution for people in remote or isolated areas, giving you internet access wherever you are,” Cignal Connect said in its website.
Through satellite broadband, internet signal is received by the satellite dish, which is connected to a modem that delivers internet via LAN cable or Wi-Fi router.
The Cignal Connect plans starts at P6,500 per month at two Mbps maximum download speed and 0.5 Mbps maximum upload speed.
A one-time charge of P36,000 will be required for a Cignal Connect Kit which includes a satellite dish, accessories and a modem.
Cignal is owned and operated by Cignal TV Inc., a subsidiary of the PLDT Group’s media and content arm MediaQuest Holdings.
Cignal breached the three million subscriber count in November last year.
