Manila Water loses Bulacan bulk water contract
MANILA, Philippines — Ayala-led Manila Water Co. Inc. has lost a contract to manage bulk water supply and wastewater services in Balagtas, Bulacan.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Manila Water said its consortium with subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. (MWPVI) has accepted the decision of the Balagtas Water District to revoke the notice of award for the contract it bagged in 2018.
The consortium of Manila Water Co. Inc. and MWPVI was awarded the contract to implement water supply system and sanitation facilities for a period of 25 years with an estimated capital expenditure of P400 million.
It was expected to deliver a billed volume of 22 million liters per day.
The contract covered the design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, operation, financing, expansion and management of the water supply system and sanitation facilities in Balagtas.
Manila Water did not disclose the reason for the contract termination.
Manila Water covers the east zone which encompasses parts of Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, most parts of Quezon City, portions of Manila as well as several towns in Rizal.
