Globe sees higher 4G LTE user base
MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. has seen a rise in the number of customers shifting to 4G LTE as 3G usage has declined.
Joel Agustin, Globe senior vice president for program delivery, network technical group, said more customers have turned to 4G LTE technology for their work from home, distance learning, and other requirements as the country moved toward the ‘’new normal.’’
Globe has recorded a 47.4 percent drop in the number of customers using 3G from May 2020 to January this year.
The telco also posted a 34 percent jump in the number of customers using LTE during the same period.
Globe is actively positioning 4G as the new standard of mobile internet in the country.
“We have been anticipating the decline in 3G users as more customers are realizing the benefits of using 4G LTE for better data experience and faster internet speed. This provides more value for money and better mobile experience if they are connected to our 4G LTE network,” Agustin said.
Globe expects that 4G LTE volume usage will increase further as it continues to expand its 4G LTE network to include far flung areas and other strategic locations all over the country.
