MANILA, Philippines — Yuchengco-led Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) further expanded its digital banking services due to mobility restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eugene Acevedo, president and chief executive officer at RCBC, said the bank has deployed a “digital concierge” feature to service its web users.
“RCBC expands its digital banking services in response to the need of the market whose financial practices are moving online at record pace,” Acevedo said.
With the new service, RCBC clients may now request for bank certifications, replace damaged ATM cards, reset personal identification numbers (PIN), and make foreign or local telegraphic transfer through RCBC online banking.
These transactions are completed entirely online except for the claiming of requested cards and documents that are conveniently picked up in one’s preferred RCBC branch.
“The pandemic and the resulting community quarantine in the Philippines have limited the physical mobility of individuals and increased preference for contactless transactions,” Acevedo said.
He said RCBC saw a sharp decrease in branch activities but noted an exponential increase in online transactions.
“Our priority is to bridge identified gaps between the two. Users can expect additional services that will be provided by our digital concierge,” Acevedo said.
To avail of the services of RCBC’s digital concierge, users only need to log into rcbconlinebanking.com and select other services.
“They shall be required to provide the details of their account and other related information. An RCBC representative then reaches out to the user when the request has been processed,” Acevedo said.
RCBC chief inclusion and innovation officer Lito Villanueva said the Yuchengco-led bank is glad to take the lead in the transition of more transactions from the brick-and-mortar branch to its online counterpart.
“Even as the COVID-19 vaccinations usher in the end of the pandemic, the shift to online transactions will be permanent,” Villanueva said.
The listed bank’s online and mobile banking offers the most extensive digital banking features in the country.
“And our customers and would-be customers would be more delighted to experience more new features this year,” Villanueva said.
