MANILA, Philippines — 2GO Group Inc. has introduced a solution which is seen as the best alternative to air cargo with the pandemic creating uncertainties in the logistics and transportation industries.

In response to the need to move essential cargo at the shortest possible time from Manila to Visayas and Mindanao, the integrated transportation and logistics provider has introduced 2GO CabinCargo.

“2GO CabinCargo is the best alternative to air freight, while the airlines are reevaluating their plans,” 2GO chief operations officer Waldo Basilla said.

“By using our ropax fleet, which are the fastest vessels in the country that offer special handling of cargoes, we now offer the best lead times closest to airfreight,” Basilla said.

Due to the lack of passengers, 2GO said airlines have significantly reduced frequency and capacity.

As a result, supply chains of products that normally go on air freight have been disrupted.

“We deliver to consumers in the key ports of Visayas and Mindanao within five days, from pick-up to delivery. With this option, shippers can simply adjust their supply chains by a couple of days and reestablish their product flows,” Basilla said.

According to 2GO, cargoes are loaded last on the vessels and stowed in locations, enabling first to discharge directly into a truck.

It said this bypasses the need to transfer to terminals and CFS hubs for unloading and handling which lengthens lead times.

From the port, cargoes are directly transported to customers, which considerably reduces the time it takes to complete delivery.

2GO is the largest integrated transportation and logistics provider in the country.

The company also offers travel services, and a wide range of peripheral logistics services such as freight forwarding, import and export processing, and customs brokerage.
