APEC, NTC tie up with Quezon City government for online schooling

MANILA, Philippines — The Ayalas’ APEC Schools and Yuchengco-led National Teachers College (NTC) have partnered with the Quezon City government to help the city’s junior and senior high schoolers avail of quality online and offline private schooling options.

Dubbed Project TALA (Tuloy-Aral, Linang-Alalay) which Mayor Joy Belmonte signed last week, the initiative will help Quezon City students continue with their schooling.

Belmonte said the education of the city’s students is one of the top priorities of her administration.

“This is why we consider our partnership with the APEC Schools and NTC a most welcome opportunity for shared growth. We hope that parents realize that they have the power to make choices for the continued learning of their children, particularly in this time of crisis, and that our city government can support those choices,” Belmonte said.

Under the partnership, Ayala’s education arm APEC Schools will facilitate online classes premised on an experiential approach to students with access to mobile learning devices and connectivity.

The NTC, for its part, will provide printed correspondence modules to students with no internet access.

NTC president Fred Ayala said both schools would also offer a comprehensive readiness training for both learners and parents.

“We care about helping QC families exercise the power of choice in identifying options for the continued engagement of their children in learning.

We appreciate the QC LGU’s understanding of the issues concerning access to and readiness for different modalities for distance learning,” Ayala said.

APEC Schools and NTC have continuously innovated their learning design and delivery to keep students learning effectively.

APEC Schools for one has launched a blended learning system called APEC Agile and a homeschool version called APEC Flex in August.

NTC, on the other hand,  uses the Adaptive Community for the Continuity of Education and Student Services (ACCESS) for its distance learning module.

APEC Schools and NTC are two of the seven schools under iPeople.

iPeople is the merger of the education units  of the Yuchengco and Ayala groups, which have  over 50,000 students.
