Mitsubishi L300 van sales up 35%
MANILA, Philippines — With the growing need for delivery and other logistical requirements, sales of the Mitsubishi L300 utility van accelerated by 35 percent in August alone.
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) said L300 sales went up despite the implementation of the two-week modified enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
In a statement, MMPC said L300 sales reached 699 units in August, up from the 517 units sold in July.
MMPC attributed the rising demand for utility vans to the steady recovery of the economy and the growing business for delivery services.
Other top-selling MMPC vehicle models in August are the Mitsubishi Xpander with 620 units, followed by the Mitsubishi Strada with 564 units sold.
“We at MMPC are optimistic that the economy will continue to improve in the succeeding months. We are geared to provide better offerings to the market to support their vehicle needs during these trying times,” MMPC president and chief executive officer Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said.
For the Mirage G4 sedan and L300, he said the company rolled back prices to make them more affordable to the market.
With this rollback offer, customers can purchase the Mirage G4 GLX MT for P528,000 and the Mitsubishi L300 (cab and chassis only) for P698,000.
MMPC assembles the Mirage G4 and L300 at its plant in Laguna.
Earlier, Japan parent firm Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said it is planning to export the L300 being produced in the Philippines to other Southeast Asian countries as it aims to grow its market share in the region.
Once MMPC starts shipping the L300 overseas, it would become the first firm to export Philippine-made vehicles.
