Beep card users to get rewards

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — AF Payments Inc. (AFPI), a consortium of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. and Ayala Corp., is providing users of the country’s only interoperable stored value card with rewards as contactless payment becomes the new normal in public transportation.

AFPI said Beep card users could now earn reward points that they can redeem for load.

The rewards promo, which runs until Nov. 22, requires cardholders to download the Beep mobile app and register their card.

AFPI said a customer may register up to five Beep cards, but points are earned per card and cannot be combined with other cards.

Each transaction using the registered cards at participating buses, public utility vehicles (PUVs), and retail stores in NCR earns points, with P1 spent equivalent to one point.

AFPI said trains and reloading transactions are not included.

The company said customers must earn a minimum of 1,000 points to be able to redeem P10 Beep load.

Redemption is done in the app and may be successfully claimed via Beep e-load stations.

“Cashless payments are ideal, especially at this time, because it helps us avoid physical contact with money or transport tickets where viruses may thrive,” AFPI chief commercial officer Sharon Fong said.

“We’d like to do our part by promoting the use of the Beep payment system not only for the convenience of passengers and efficiency for transport operators, but also as a means to prevent the spread of diseases as well. We thank the commuters for their cooperation and understanding as we support the transition to new and better systems that can address the challenges we are facing today,” Fong said.
