MANILA, Philippines — Fruitas Holdings Inc. (FHI), the listed kiosk and beverage operator, has partnered with PeriPeri Corp., owner and operator of Eduardo’s Peri-Peri Chicken.
Under the partnership, Fruitas will launch Porto’s Peri-Peri Chicken, which will offer a new flavor alternative to chicken preparations currently available in the market.
This will soon be available to the public via small-footprint stores.
Fruitas president and chief executive officer Lester Yu said the partnership was borne out of the idea that chicken is a staple food of Filipinos.
“This new collaboration is in line with our vision for Fruitas to be synonymous with innovative offerings. Leveraging on the experience and technical expertise of PeriPeri Corp., Fruitas is now in a position to offer a new twist on the beloved grilled chicken enthusiastically patronized by the public,” Yu said.
The move is also part of efforts to mitigate the impact of the difficult business environment brought about by the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 pandemic.
Fruitas said a mitigating measure is to add new revenue and profit sources as it adapts to the “new normal.”
With the partnership, Fruitas expects increased demand for value-for-money healthy rice meals suitable for takeout and delivery.
The company, which went public last year, raised an estimated P820 million from its initial public offering, giving it enough buffer to weather the ongoing difficult conditions.
Since its IPO, Fruitas has completed the acquisition of Heat Stroke Grill, Kuxina, The Tofu Store, and CocoDelivery and forged partnerships with Pan de Manila and Bukidnon Milk Co.
