ABS-CBN, GMA Network post digital milestones
MANILA, Philippines — Broadcast giants ABS-CBN and GMA continue to bolster their online presence as both companies reached significant digital milestones.
ABS-CBN said its Facebook page hit more than 20 million likes and its YouTube channel is followed by more than 26 million people, making both the most followed local accounts on the respective platforms.
The network’s Facebook page is the first Filipino media network or personality to achieve the 20-million milestone on the popular social media platform.
It said that ABS-CBN News is also the most liked local news account on Facebook with 18 million likes.
According to ABS-CBN, its YouTube channel has 35.1 billion lifetime views, making it the most subscribed and most viewed Filipino channel on the site. Moreover, it placed 13th in the most viewed YouTube channels globally in terms of watch hours in February, after ranking 10th last year.
“ABS-CBN’s leadership on Facebook and YouTube boosts ABS-CBN’s transition into being an agile digital company with the biggest online presence among all media companies, and a growing list of digital properties that appeal to a wide array of audiences,” the company said.
Meanwhile, GMA said the month of March showed a significant surge for GMA News and Public Affairs Digital as it set record high numbers in its digital engagement and online video viewership.
GMA said its news channel tallied 224 million views on YouTube last month compared to ABS-CBN News’ 182 million.
On Facebook, it said GMA News got 371.9 million views while its counterpart page from ABS-CBN had 371.2 million.
Its Public Affairs digital channels also remained strong, with 313.9 million views on YouTube and nearly 180 million views on Facebook.
GMA said its Public Affairs YouTube channel recently breached the 10-million-subscriber mark, which made it the only Philippine network to have two Diamond Creator Awards for two channels with more than 10 million subscribers.
