MANILA, Philippines — Isuzu Philippines Corp. (IPC) maintained its leadership in local truck sales for the 20th straight year in 2019 as it accounted for 45 percent of the market.
In a statement, IPC said it emerged as the overall leader once again for the local truck category last year.
This, as the company sold 6,279 units of Category 3, 4 and 5 trucks, or around 45 percent of the total 14,049 brand-new trucks sold in 2019.
IPC said it dominated the Category 3 or light-duty truck sales with 4,241 units sold last year.
It also held the top spot for Category 4 or the medium-duty truck segment with 1,566 units sold.
As for Category 5 or heavy-duty truck segment, IPC placed second with 472 units sold the previous year.
IPC president Hajime Koso attributed the firm’s performance to Isuzu’s global reputation of producing durable and reliable trucks, as well as availability of aftersales service through its nationwide dealership network.
To date, IPC has 43 outlets complete with servicing facilities in the country.
“By being your responsible partners, IPC does not just supply world-class vehicles, but we also provide solutions to meet their business needs. Their growth is essential to IPC’s growth, the development of the Philippine transport sector and of the economy in general. Hence, we provide total support to our partners’ businesses with great products and aftersales support,” Koso said.
IPC sells commercial vehicles such as the Travis, N-series, F-series and C and E series trucks.
In addition, IPC offers light commercial vehicles like the mu-X and D-MAX, as well as public utility vehicles.
Last year, IPC’s total vehicle sales reached 13,971 units, down 16.5 percent from 16,729 units in 2018.
