Manila, Philippines — Carga, a new mobile app, seeks to provide the first backload transport solution for shippers and truckers.
The new app will enable small and medium enterprises to connect to a pool of truckers at more affordable rates while meeting their preferred schedules and needs.
These SMEs no longer have to purchase their own trucks for their cargo and shipping needs, officials said in a press conference yesterday for the launch of the mobile app.
The rates are cheaper because the trucks will be utilizing their backload capacity. Backload refers to load transported on the journey back.
For the truckers, the app will help them increase their load and maximize vehicle use through real-time demand visibility which allows them to carry backload anytime.
Carga is an online logistics platform that will also help ease traffic congestion by reducing the volume of empty trucks plying the road.
Carga chief executive officer Sam Lato said there are about 480,000 trucks registered with the Land Transportation Office.
So far, he said Carga has 20 company-owned trucks with five corporate partners for a combined fleet of 150 units.
Lato said the idea behind the backload solution business was born because of the owners’ personal experience while ferrying engineering materials and equipment for their company, MJAS Zenith.
Carga started accepting cargo yesterday, Feb. 6, paving the way for accessible delivery of goods and commodities for everyone nationwide at anytime
