The Sinisian Lemery Batangas Port and Industrial Park Corp. recently broke ground for a P1 billion six-hectare port and industrial park in Lemery, Batangas, a major gateway to Southern Luzon upon its completion by next year. MANILA, Philippines — The Sinisian Lemery Batangas Port and Industrial Park Corp. (SLBPIP) broke ground on a P1 billion, six-hectare port and industrial park in Lemery, Batangas.

The sprawling complex is envisioned to be a major gateway in Southern Luzon in 2021.

It hopes to address growing port congestion in the region and to meet the infrastructure requirements of the Duterte administration’s Build Build Build program, SLBPIP president Ferdinand Co said in a statement.

The port will cater to industrial port and warehousing needs for import and export distribution and will be equipped with international and domestic deep port facilities, he said.

“The deep port can be up to 30 meters deep and 160 meters wide and can handle even up to a panamax vessel, which is very rare to have in the Philippines. Locators can use that port and use our warehouse for them to be able to import or export,” Co said.

Importers will have an advantage in using the port.

“Since we’re located in Batangas – to distribute to Southern Luzon, Metro Manila or even nearby islands. If Subic Port is strategic for Central Luzon, then we’re strategic for Southern Luzon,” Co said.
