Still divided, Yanson siblings hold separate stockholders’ meetings

MANILA, Philippines — Warring factions of the Bacolod-based Yanson family held separate annual shareholder meetings ASM for Mindanao Star Bus Transport and Bachelor Express Inc.

The two family-owned bus firms are sister firms of Vallacar Transit Inc., the country’s biggest bus company.

The two family factions are the so-called Yanson Two comprising of Leo Yanson and sister Ginnette Yanson-Dumancas, together with family matriarch Olivia Yanson; and the Yanson Four which includes the remaining four Yanson siblings-Ma. Lourdes Celina Yanson Lopez, Roy Yanson, Ricardo Yanson Jr. and Emily Yanson.

Both groups held separate ASMs for the respective companies and elected their respective sets of directors and management teams.

The Yanson Four held the annual meeting of Mindanao Star Bus Transport on Jan. 18 at SEDA Centrio Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.  Presided by  their chairman Roy Yanson, the meeting was attended by stockholders representing 99.99 percent  of the outstanding capital stock of the corporation.

Roy, Emily and Ricardo were elected as members of the board of directors for 2020-2021.

The directors elected Ricardo as president, Roy as vice president for operations, Ma. Lourdes as secretary, Emily as treasurer and chief financial officer and Jose Ealdama as vice president for legal.

Yanson Two, meanwhile, held a separate ASM for Mindanao Star on Saturday where they reappointed Leo Rey as president and CEO of the company while Olivia was elected as treasurer and corporate secretary.
