Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is beefing up further its international network from 2020.

PAL said it would start operating flights between Zamboanga and Kota Kinabalu by March 2020.

Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Malaysia’s Sabah state, is a coastal city best known for its markets, modern boardwalk, beaches and waterfront Kota Kinabalu City Mosque.

PAL said it would operate a thrice weekly Zamboanga-Kota Kinabalu-Zamboanga service using an 86-seater Dash 8 Q400NG aircraft.

The new service leaves Zamboanga City at 8 a.m. and arrives in the Malaysian city at 9:45 a.m. It departs from Kota Kinabalu at 10:45 a.m. and touches down in Zamboanga City at 12:30 p.m.

Aside from the Zamboanga-Kota Kinabalu flights, PAL recently announced that it will also introduce thrice weekly flights between Davao and Manado, Indonesia by March next year.

Manado is the capital city of the Indonesian province of North Sulawesi. It is the second-largest city in Sulawesi after Makassar.

PAL will also use the 86-seater Dash 8 Q400NG for the upcoming service.

PAL is the country’s only four-star global airline. It has a network covering more than 30 domestic and 40 international destinations with a young fleet of 98 advanced-technology aircraft.
