MANILA, Philippines — Local pay TV provider Cignal TV Inc. has struck a partnership with PLDT-backed systems solutions firm Multisys Technologies Corp. to upgrade its system.
Mutisys CEO and founder David Almirol Jr. said the strategic collaboration between the two companies would result in a lot of technological advancements for Cignal TV, which in turn would lead to better customer and administrative experiences.
“Cignal engaged Multisys to develop its upgraded system. They have their old system, but they want to innovate that to expedite their processes, especially on their subscribtion mechanism. There will be a lot of electronic automation that will be happening. So instead of doing manual things, the system can be able to have a multitasking subscription system,” he said.
Almirol said the system upgrade should be completed in less than a year.
Cignal president and CEO Jane Basas said it is about time for the company to overhaul its entire system.
With the changing needs of customers as well as the requirements of the businesses, Basas said Cignal wants a more efficient system to be able to bring the company to a whole new level.
“Cignal has been in the industry for 10 years and I think it’s high time for us to upgrade and update our backbone, which is the various front end and back end systems of the company. We are engaging the services (of Multisys) to develop our subscriber management system, our provisioning system, our billing systems hoping that we will have better tools to serve our customers for us to be able to come up with better products and services and to actually improve customer experience both for our internal and external customers,” Basas said.
Cignal TV is the biggest and fastest growing pay TV company in the country. It is a subsidiary of MediaQuest Holdings, the media and content arm of the PLDT Group of Companies.
Multisys, meanwhile, is a software engineering solutions firm that provides a wide range, cost-effective and full-scale service to companies.
In November last year, PLDT invested P2.15 billion in Multisys to achieve the telco giant’s goal of becoming a full-scale digital services provider.
“The strength of Multisys lies in its independence. That is where the creative innovation happens because they are able to do their own thing. It is beginning to dawn also on the population in the (PLDT) group that there’s a lot of things, services and products which Multisys can provide as evidenced by this Cignal partnership,” PLDT chairman and chief executive officer Manuel V. Pangilinan said.
