RLC unveils first township project

MANILA, Philippines — Robinsons Land Corp., the listed property developer of the Gokongwei family, yesterday launched its first township, the 30-hectare Bridgetowne which will rise along two major cities, Quezon City and Pasig City.

In a press briefing yesterday, RLC president Frederick Go said the estate would be a mixed use property with residential, commercial, office, recreational spaces and retail stores.

It is targeted for completion in 10 to 15 years, he said.

To jumpstart development in the eastern part, RLC will launch next month the Velaris, a high-end luxury residential development. The project is a joint venture with Hong Kong Land.

“The 40-story tower will have about 500 residential units consisting of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units that will cater to the upper management of businesses located in the office towers in the west side of Bridgetowne,” Go said.

Proponents of the estate said a major characteristic of Bridgetowne is sustainability.

A highlight of the sprawling estate will be a landmark bridge that would connect Quezon City and Pasig.

The bridge is inspired by late national artist Francisco Manosa.

“More than linking the two cities on which the estate will rise, the bridge will allow people to conveniently enjoy the best that Quezon City and Pasig can offer,” Go said.

Also rising in Bridgetowne is an art installation, The Victor which is intended to be the estate’s most remarkable structure.

The installation is 60 meters or roughly 20 stories high. It is designed by Jefre, a Filipino-American artist known for his public art pieces.

Components of the estate include residential condominiums, BPO & Grade-A office buildings, a shopping center and a five-star hotel. Other features include a central park, multiple pocket parks, school, hospital as well as transport terminals.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Pasig city Mayor Vico Sotto joined the inauguration of the mixed-use estate yesterday.
