Toyota rolls out 2nd gen Avanza
MANILA, Philippines — The local unit of Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. has rolled out the new Avanza to cater to the increasing demand for multi-purpose vehicles (MPV), particularly from families, in the country.
In a statement yesterday, Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMPC) said it is making available the second generation Avanza MPV which has a new sporty look, a redesigned dashboard with new infotainment system, and other features to suit the needs of families.
“Since its introduction in the Philippines last 2006, the Avanza has now sold almost 100,000 units, earning the trust and loyalty of countless customers with Toyota standards of quality, durability, and reliability. Currently on its second generation, the Avanza continues to provide worry-free ownership and affordable convenience to Filipino families, giving them the Toyota brand assurance that can be felt from sales to regular maintenance and beyond,” TMPC said.
Apart from a sportier look, the second generation Avanza has new split-type LED headlamps and front fog lamps, as well as redesigned alloy wheels, making it perfect for road trips.
In terms of the entertainment system, the new Avanza is equipped with a 6.8-inch capacitive touch panel display infotainment system that can also be found inside premium Toyota models like the RAV4 and Camry.
The Avanza is available in four variants and drivers can choose between a four-speed automatic transmission and a five-speed manual transmission.
Powered by a 1.5-liter engine, the Veloz and G variants of the Avanza have a maximum output of 103 hp.
Meanwhile, the maximum output for the 1.3-liter engine of the E and J variants is 95 hp.
The top variant Veloz, which comes in an exclusive dark red mica metallic color, is available at P1.065 million.
The G variant costs P1 million for automatic transmission, and P957,000 for manual transmission.
As for the E variant, the price tag for automatic transmission is P907,000, and P864,000 for the manual transmission, while the J variant costs P731,000.
Colors available for the other variants are dark blue SE, black metallic, gray metallic, silver mica metallic, beige metallic and white.
Customers interested to purchase the Avanza can visit any of TMPC’s 69 dealerships.
TMPC, country’s leading automotive manufacturer, expects to post single-digit growth in sales this year with consumers seen to adjust to the higher tax imposed on vehicles last year and as it benefits from election-related spending.
Last year, the company sold 153,004 units.
As of end-April, TMPC’s sales reached 44,997 vehicles, 4.9 percent lower than the 47,307 vehicles sold in the same period last year.
