Allianz PNB Life names new CEO

MANILA, Philippines — Allianz PNB Life Insurance Inc. has announced the appointment of Alexander Grenz as its new president and chief executive officer .

According to the company, Grenz’ appointment will be effective June 1, subject to regulatory approval.

Grenz has been promoted to the role of CEO after more than three years as chief operating officer (COO) for the insurance firm.

He will be replacing Olaf Kliesow, who will be moving internally to take on a new role as global head of Rewards and Performance at Allianz SE.

Allianz PNB Life said Kliesow will support the transition process through to the third quarter of 2019. A successor to the role of COO has yet to be announced.

“In his new role, Grenz will be responsible for steering the growth and value creation of Allianz PNB Life, and continue to develop the close collaboration and partnership with the Philippine National Bank (PNB),” the company said in a statement.

He will also join the Allianz Asia board, as well as the board of directors of Allianz PNB Life.

As COO, Grenz was responsible for Allianz PNB Life’s operations, technology and transformation functions, establishing processes and innovation to improve services and revenues.

“We congratulate Alexander on this appointment. He is a dynamic leader with a strong track record of delivering quality performance, we’re confident he will take the company towards its next phase of growth,” George Sartorel, regional CEO for Allianz Asia Pacific, said.

“We also thank Olaf for his outstanding leadership in the last three years. During his tenure, he has consistently delivered top and bottom line growth ahead of its market, as well as strengthened our distribution channels and solutions for our Filipino customers. We wish Olaf the very best as he continues to drive success for the group in his new role,” he said.

Olaf has been with Allianz since 2010. He was appointed as president and CEO for Allianz PNB Life in 2016.

Since 2018, Olaf has also served as president of the Philippines Life Insurance Association (PLIA).
