MANILA, Philippines — Metropac Movers Inc. (MMI), the logistics arm of Metro Pacific Investment Corp. (MPIC), is now laying the groundwork for the construction of its sprawling industrial hub in Southern Luzon.

MMI, one of the fast-growing businesses of MPIC, said preparations are now underway for the construction of the large distribution center it would build in Southern Luzon.

The company tapped the services of DCCD Engineering Corp. to oversee the construction of the industrial hub, review the plans, expenses and ensure that construction would be done in accordance with the agreed timeline and budget.

MMI plans to build mega distribution centers in the sprawling 202,000 square meter land in General Trias in Cavite. The company acquired the property for P1.2 billion.

“These mega distribution centers are expected to serve the company’s existing and potential clients in the fast-moving consumer goods, consumer durables and other industries,” MMI said.

Aside from the Cavite property, MMI also purchased parcels of land with a total aggregate space of 277,857 square meters in San Rafael, Bulacan for P204.8 million.

The land purchases and construction of the distribution centers complement the 520 brand new trucks MMI acquired in 2017 and the existing leased warehouse spaces totaling 207,000 sqm scattered in strategic locations across Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

In terms of other investments, the company has also been investing heavily in Information technology, equipment and training in line with its goal to become the top logistics firm in the Philippines.

MMI is a wholly-owned subsidiary and the logistics arm of MPIC, the infrastructure conglomerate chaired by tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan.
