MANILA, Philippines — Government employees and the military can expect another salary hike in the next years until the end of President Rodrigo Duterte’s term in 2022, the country’s Budget chief said Wednesday.

At a press conference, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said a task force has been organized to “study the wage structure for the 2020 to 2022 salary adjustment.”

“There will be [wage increases] but how much is not yet determined,” Diokno said.

According to the Cabinet official, the government is still studying the planned adjustments in state wages by “comparing” the salary structures of the government and the private sector.

“That study is ongoing right now,” he said. — Ian Nicolas Cigaral
