Manila Water inks Bulacan joint venture
MANILA, Philippines — Ayala-led Manila Water Co. Inc. has entered into a joint venture agreement with Bulacan Water District (BWD) for the water supply development in the municipality in Bulacan.
Last May, Manila Water won the project to develop the water supply system in Bulacan.
Under the JVA, both parties will form a joint venture company where Obando Water Consortium Holdings Corp. of Manila Water and Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. will own 90 percent of the outstanding capital stock, while the remaining 10 percent will be held by BWD.
The implementation of water supply system and sanitation facilities in Bulacan has an estimated capital expenditure of more than P400 million over a 25-year contract period.
It is expected to deliver a billed volume of 16 million liters per day.
The contract covers the design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, operation, financing, expansion and management of the water supply system and sanitation facilities in Bulacan.
The JVA could also serve the airport being proposed by diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corp.
Manila Water caters to the east zone which encompasses parts of Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, most parts of Quezon City, portions of Manila, as well as several towns in Rizal.
It has also assisted and reformed water systems nationwide through its operations in Laguna, Boracay, Clark, Cebu, Davao del Norte and Zamboanga under the Manila Water Philippine Ventures subsidiary.
The company, through subsidiary Manila Water Asia Pacific, is also present in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar.
