Lazada Philippines names new CEO
?MANILA, Philippines — E-commerce giant Lazada Philippines recently named its first Filipino CEO, Ray Alimurung, who previously served as its chief commercial officer.
Lazada credited Alimurung for "driving topline revenue and launching big brand partnerships" prior to his appointment. Among the notable deals he forged were with Apple, Estee Lauder, L'Oreal and Samsung.
"I fee extremely privileged to be given the opportunity to lead Lazada Philippines," Alimurung said in a statement.
He thanked Inanc Blanci, whose post he is taking over, for making Lazada a leading player in the country's e-commerce industry.
Since its launch in 2012, Lazada went on to become a top shopping destination hosting thousands of sellers who cater to over a million monthly transactions.
Alimurung said he "will be forever grateful to Inanc for having created a solid foundation for us to build on."
"These are excited times for e-commerce. I look forward to continuing Lazada's mission of providing the best customer experience and helping small and medium enterprises expand their business via Lazada," he added.
Alimurung, a Stanford MBA graduate, has had extensive experience in digital industries. Prior to joining Lazada, Alimurung served as chief executive officer of aCommerce Co, an e-commerce solutions company. He was also integration head at IP E-Game Ventures Inc. and COO of Netopia.
