MANILA, Philippines — Cebu-based drugstore chain Rose Pharmacy is now accepting cashless payments from customers via a partnership with PLDT Inc.’s corporate business arm PLDT Enterprise and digital financial arm PayMaya Philippines Inc.
Under the partnership, 130 Rose Pharmacy branches around the country will have PayMaya Quick Response (QR) as a payment option, while more stores will follow in the coming months.
Through the availability of PayMaya QR, customers have the option of paying for purchases by using their smartphones.
In particular, customers can pay by scanning the QR code at Rose Pharmacy branches on the PayMaya app.
Apart from QR payments, select Rose Pharmacy branches and Rose Pharmacy’s online delivery service is now capable of accepting VISA and Mastercard payments powered by PayMaya Business.
“Improving our in-store customer experience is a top priority for Rose Pharmacy, and this partnership with PLDT and PayMaya contributes to our commitment to bring our customers the benefits and advantages of new technologies. Now, our customers will have wider, faster and very secure payment option at their disposal. Choosing to pay by card or using the mobile generated QR code has never been easier at Rose Pharmacy,” Rose Pharmacy chief executive officer Charlie Bettencourt said.
PayMaya president and chief executive officer Orlando Vea said the move of retailers like Rose Pharmacy to keep up with the changes in the retail landscape is seen to be beneficial for customers.
“PayMaya’s cashless solutions will definitely bring in a more delightful and convenient experience to their customers nationwide,” he said.
As a treat to customers, those who will pay using PayMaya QR in participating Rose Pharmacy branches will get 20 percent cashback on purchases until June 22.
Customers can get maximum cashback of P300 per store, per day.
To avail of the QR payment option via PayMaya, individuals can download the app from Google Play Store or the Apple App Store then, sign up for an account using their mobile number and load the account with funds.
