MANILA, Philippines — The Integrated Meter Management laboratory of Maynilad Water Services Inc. recently obtained accreditation from the Department of Trade and Industry-Philippine Accreditation Bureau (DTI-PAB)—earning for Maynilad a PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 certification, which affirms that it met international requirements for “competence of testing and calibration laboratories.”
Maynilad’s meter lab is a facility dedicated for regularly testing the residential, commercial and industrial water meters of its customers. The DTI-PAB accreditation confirms the meter lab’s high standards in the efficient and precise measurement of water consumption, as well as the competency of Maynilad laboratory personnel in meter testing.
Located in Pasay City, the Maynilad meter lab is the first and only one in the Philippines that is capable of testing large meters sized 15 mm to 300 mm. It also provides testing services for private meter manufacturers and realty companies. Its accreditation by DTI-PAB brings Maynilad’s total number of ISO certificates to 245.
“Having the meter lab has enabled us to build the meter management capabilities of our people. This ensures that we accurately bill the water consumption of our customers, and we properly manage commercial losses due to metering inaccuracies,” Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez said.
Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and, Malabon, all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta, and Rosario, all in Cavite province.
