Enchanted Kingdom on expansion mode
MANILA, Philippines — Enchanted Kingdom, the first and only world-class theme park in the Philippines, may spend P5 billion more for the first phase of its 10-year expansion plan.
Mario Mamon, chairman and president of Enchanted Kingdom, said they are crafting the masterplan for the theme park’s expansion, which would cover at least 20 hectares.
The first phase expansion, which will include the development of a cultural zone, a kid-centered Eldar’s Village and a man-made lake, is expected to be completed by 2020.
“We’re working hard to have something substantial by our 25th anniversary which is in 2020,” Mamon said.
We will have lasers, lights and pyrotechniques in the future,” Mamon said.
The theme park has already opened Agila the Eksperience, the first and only flying theater in the country.
Mamon said the expansion may be done in five phases.
”Some phases may be done only by ourselves, but some may also be with possible partners because we also plan to have not only features and rides and attractions here, but also lifestyle and retail. It will be a total experience,” Mamon said.
At present, Enchanted Kingdom receives a weekly foot traffic of around 30,000 to 50,000 people. Last year, it registered visitors of around 1.6 million.
