BIR computerized accounting compliance for large taxpayers

MANILA, Philippines -  There are over 2,000 large taxpayers and many are not compliant to the Bureau of Internal Revenue Regulation 9-2009 requiring large taxpayers to have a Computerized Accounting System (CAS). 

To help large taxpayers regarding their compliance issues and prepare those medium-sized firms who will be classified by the BIR as large taxpayers, the Center for Global Best Practices is launching a seminar entitled, “BIR Computerized Accounting System Compliance for Large Taxpayers”, scheduled on June 22 at the Cebu Marriott Hotel, Cebu City.

This one-day seminar is to help the many large taxpayers who are having difficulty setting up, getting accreditation, and running a successful CAS in compliance with the BIR regulation 2009-9. With the BIR setting up a special task force called Computerized Systems Evaluation Team (CSET) to monitor large taxpayers, one can expect more enforcement from the tax authorities. The lecture will include discussions on the regulations and rulings, presentation of the challenges of getting BIR CAS accreditation and how to prepare for the actual system demonstration required by the BIR. Attending this will help you hurdle and solve your CAS headaches, issues and most importantly, prevent those dreaded BIR penalties.

This will feature seasoned practitioner, Bienvenido Constantino, CPA. His expertise include aligning large taxpayers’ IT-based accounting systems to comply with the regulations on CAS. He is the founder & CEO of Helix Software Technologies, an Australian IT firm specializing in cloud technologies designed for SME, large enterprises as well as for LGUs.

He has assisted many large enterprises achieved BIR-CAS compliance including A. Soriano Corp., Mirant, Micro-D, Trends and Technologies, Mighty Corp., PCSO among many others.

His extensive experience include having worked as IT project director of World Bank projects with the Commission on Audit and the Department of Energy as well as in various USAID initiatives.

He finished his bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of the Philippines.
