MANILA, Philippines - Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) marked its 10th consecutive year of growth after posting record sales last year, hopeful of sustaining momentum for another banner year this 2017.
MMPC capped 2016 with total sales of 61,400 units, up 13.5 percent from 54,087 units the previous year.
Light commercial vehicles accounted for 38,916 units of MMPC’s total sales, while passenger cars totalled 20,564 units.
“This volume is the highest annual volume MMPC has ever attained. With this volume, MMPC was able to achieve its 10th consecutive year of annual sales growth,” the local unit of the Japanese automotive giant said.
This year, MMPC said it is looking forward to another record-breaking sales run as it targets a 22 percent growth to 75,000 units.
To reach the target, MMPC said it intends to maximize the production of its Mirage models under the government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy Program.
With the start of local production on February 2017, the company said it has high hopes of reaching its full potential in sales this year given the increasing demand for entry-level passenger cars.
